The Mortal Engines

I've been wondering what to do as my first ever blog post for a couple of days now, so instead of always thinking and never actually doing I thought I would dive straight in!

I've been reading this series of books by Philip Reeve called The Mortal Engines; I'm now on the fourth and final book of the series and coupled with the illustrations and my own imagination it has given me so many ideas for costume design.

The main inspiration for my ideas is the steampunk trend, I've always liked it but never opened myself up to the world of steampunk. So I decided to do a little research...

All of my findings in terms of steampunk fashion images can be found at my pinterest. But the main elements I  like which could translate into the world of Mortal Engines are:

Leather

Tailcoats

And, of course, goggles!
